Position Overview Oversees a globally situated team of engineers that design, develop, evaluate, and/or modify RF/wirelessly enabled products in development consistent with customer, wireless Standards bodies, Regulatory and/or Network Operator requirements. Supervises product design efforts and ensures the integrity of the deliverables from the team. Determines and develops optimal approach to delivering RF/wireless-enabled product solutions. Work will normally require complex engineering analysis, computer simulation and testing to achieve the end goals. Results are thoroughly evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been fully met and competitive for the target Market. Individual continually drives investment in innovation, R&D and tools to further the capabilities and meaningful differentiation in product offerings. Responsibilities:
Exceptional leadership skills and excels in developing the skills and talents of others Advanced knowledge in RF/wireless function, product, technology service, strategy, and business complexities in order to contribute to the development of creative solutions in area of RF/wireless expertise. Proficiency in design & development of state of the art RF system/device testing solutions. Internally recognized as a leader who exercises sound judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results Directs and controls the activities and associated operating budget of the RF department in a functional discipline within a product group, division, sub-region, or country Develops and establishes operational policies within area managed, and delegates assignments. Accountable for and contributes significantly towards profitability and/or cost containment by indirectly impacting the department labor budget, discretionary, product line NRE, research and development, operations, or functional management Develops and implements programs/solutions to improve processes, reduce costs and cycle time, and improve customer service/satisfaction. Initiate and manages cross-functional development programs and/or strategic initiatives Excellent written and oral communication skills Fluent in English verbal & written language; Chinese or Mandarin is a plus Position Specific Information Shall design products with RF/wireless technologies spanning 700MHz to 6GHz; including, but not limited to:
(i.e.,) GSM, 3G, 4G/LTE, CDMA, 5G NR, AGPS, 802.11/Wi-Fi(x), NFC, HF/RFID, NB, and Bluetooth/LE Shall ensure the handheld RF/antenna system will fully meet published Customer, wireless Standards, Regulatory, cellular Network Operator performance requirements RF/antenna design & development for FCC/ETSI/3GPP/3GPP2/PTCRB/GCF/GSMA compliance with recent success cases Strong experience in the PCB board development cycle of RF circuits & matching-circuits with hands-on knowledge of techniques used in designing for EMI/EMC compliance and noise sensitive receivers Hands-on RF system integration (Radio/antenna) optimization and debugging Strong experience in the application of RF/Microwave EM CAD simulation tools (i.e., ADS, etc.) to simulate RF circuits, PCBs, antennas, cascaded RF subsystems, etc. to perform RF Line-Up/Link Budgets analysis and/or RF circuit/system computer simulation Shall be responsible for efficient engineering Test Plans, prototypes development, overseeing testing efforts, and hands-on RF integration & debugging experiments of antenna/RF integration using commercial lab equipment, such as:
Spectrum Analyzers, Base Station Emulators, Signal Simulators, Network Analyzers, SAR equipment, and OTA (i.e., TRP/TIS) SISO and MIMO measurement chambers Practical RF/antenna/system testing experience and knowhow, including direct cabled and radiated methods, along with noise / RF interference mitigation and troubleshooting methods Proficiency in scoping-out the RF task/project effort and regularly communicate detailed development status, risks & issues to the broader cross-functional program team Familiarity in the end-to-end wireless product development life-cycle is highly desirable Relevant working experience in antenna & RF/System integration for handheld mobile device applications is preferred SAR/HAC design experience & recent compliance success is desirable Hands-on embedded RF design and associated testing & qualification experience for Consumer Smartphone applications is a plus Key partner and significant contributor to relevant RF/Wireless Supplier Commodity Team (SCT) charters Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in an appropriate engineering discipline preferred with 15 years of experience in Engineering. 5
years of people management experience required Preferred Qualifications 15 years of engineering experience (min) in Consumer or Enterprise electronics design and history of successful product releases to mass production 10
years of applicable hands-on Industry experience in embedded RF/wireless circuit design & system integration.
Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
Hardware Development, Technology ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
